Mark your calendars Port Douglas Carnivale returns from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 May 2026, bringing colour, culture and celebration to one of Australia’s most spectacular seaside destinations.
This year’s theme, “Ancient Wonders”, honours the incredible natural and cultural heritage of our region, from the world’s oldest living rainforest in the Daintree to the magic of the Great Barrier Reef. It’s a tribute to the stories, landscapes and communities that make this destination truly extraordinary.

The much-loved Macrossan Street Parade returns on Friday 22 May, transforming the heart of Port Douglas into a dazzling tropical spectacle.
From 5pm, Macrossan Street comes alive with market stalls, street performers, carnival rides and family-friendly amusements, building anticipation before the parade steps off at 6.30pm. Inspired by the “Ancient Wonders” theme, vibrant floats and creative costumes will bring reef, rainforest and culture to life in a celebration of community pride.
The evening culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at 8pm, lighting up the tropical sky and officially launching the Carnivale weekend.

Carnivale continues live at Rex Smeal Park with Savannah Sounds, running across the full weekend from Friday to Sunday against the stunning backdrop of the Coral Sea.
Opening night sets the tone, with special guests Sneaky Sound System taking to the stage on Friday evening from 4pm to 10.30pm. As the sun sets over the water and the sky turns shades of pink and gold, the atmosphere shifts into full festival mode, music, ocean breezes and a crowd ready to celebrate.
Saturday builds the energy with live bands and DJs, creating the perfect excuse to spend the afternoon and evening by the waterfront. By Sunday laid-back acoustic sets and easy tropical rhythms inviting visitors to unwind before heading home.
With food vendors, licensed bars and the sea just metres away, Savannah Sounds is more than a concert series, it’s the soundtrack to your long weekend in paradise.

Carnivale wouldn’t be complete without celebrating Port Douglas’ most iconic natural playground: Four Mile Beach.
Beach Day captures the essence of tropical living, inviting locals and visitors to gather on the sand and soak up the sunshine. Expect a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere that reflects the community spirit of the region, with activities and experiences designed to bring people together by the sea.
