Port Douglas 2

EO Update 22 Dec 2025

As we wrap up the year, I would like to thank our members for your continued engagement, collaboration and support. It has been a busy and productive period for Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, with a strong focus on advocacy, destination positioning and delivering tangible outcomes for our industry. I am also delighted to welcome three new members to the TPDD network this month: Tropical Trike Tours, Port Douglas Luxe Tours & Limousines, and Grant Street Kitchen, each bringing something unique and valuable to our destination offering.

On the marketing front, planning is well underway for The Lush Life domestic campaign, designed to drive March–June shoulder season visitation. We were delighted to see such strong member interest, with the campaign now fully subscribed. Thank you to all participating partners for your support and confidence in this high-impact activity, which secures premium media exposure across Sydney, Adelaide and national digital channels.

TPDD has also continued to advocate for events that support year-round visitation, with recent local media coverage highlighting strong early interest in the inaugural Heatwave Festival, taking place in Port Douglas in February 2026. The event has been welcomed as a strategic addition to the summer calendar, helping drive visitation during a traditionally quieter period and bringing new audiences, energy and economic benefit to the destination.

We also recently hosted a local media briefing focused on collaborative, accurate weather reporting, sharing the QTIC Media & Tourism Guidelines and reinforcing the importance of clear, locally informed communication to protect community confidence and destination reputation during weather events.

In addition, TPDD continues to progress targeted advocacy work, including regional event planning and ongoing discussions with government partners regarding the future of the Port Douglas Crystalbrook Marina and Marine Precinct, including a ministerial delegation to Brisbane early in the new year.

Business Events Port Douglas continues to play an important role in strengthening our business events pipeline, with strong trade engagement, famil activity and representation across key industry events throughout the year. It has been encouraging to see continued collaboration within this group and growing interest in Port Douglas as a business events destination.

Finally, a reminder for members to review and renew your ATDW listings by 31 December, ensuring your business remains visible across key consumer and trade channels.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of TPDD. We look forward to continuing this work together and building on this momentum in the year ahead.
