Easter in Port Douglas and Daintree is something special. While much of Australia reaches for jumpers, we celebrate the long weekend in true tropical style: warm days, lush rainforest, reef adventures and long lunches under swaying palms.

Whether you’re visiting with family, planning a romantic escape or simply making the most of the long weekend, here’s how to spend Easter in paradise.

It’s a time of renewal, flowing waterfalls, rainforest mist and fewer crowds.

Explore the Great Barrier Reef

There’s no better time to explore the reef than during the green season. The water is warm, marine life is thriving and visitor numbers are lower than the peak winter months. Spend Easter Sunday snorkelling over coral gardens or relaxing on deck beneath brilliant blue skies.

Head North into the Daintree

Easter is an ideal time to explore the world’s oldest living rainforest.

  • Walk shaded boardwalks surrounded by ancient ferns
  • Take a river cruise in search of crocodiles and birdlife
  • Drive north to Cape Tribulation, where the reef meets the rainforest
  • Visit Mossman Gorge for a refreshing dip in the cool rainforest water

The landscape is especially lush at this time of year, with flowing creeks and dramatic green backdrops at every turn.
