TPDD Website Launched and Live

Thank you to all our members who attended the August networking function at Palmer Sea Reef. It was wonderful to see so many of you join us at such a busy time of year, we all deserve a few hours off to relax! The positive feedback received for the new branding and logo has been overwhelming. We are gradually rolling the branding out and the new website launched last week. This guide is a highly sought after by meeting and event planners globally when planning their events in Tropical North Queensland.The publication which is distributed in both print and digital format has a 2-year shelf life and is the principal collateral piece use to market the destination.

Living Art at Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure

A new and exciting Reptile Exhibit is enthralling visitors at Hartley's Crocodile Adventures . The new exhibit features displays showcasing more than 50 species of insects, frogs, lizards, snakes and tortoises from Australia and overseas. The giant Reticulated Python measures a huge six metres in length, and weighs almost 100kg, making her the largest snake in Australia! Many of the animals are vividly colourful, all are fascinating and they are displayed in accurate recreations of natural habitats with stunning photographic backgrounds.

Shaolin operates Daily Low Isles Adventure Tour

Shaolin now operates a daily Low Isles Adventure schedule (weather permitting and minimum 6 passengers) in addition to the daily sunset sails. The tour departs at 7.45am, returns at 4.00pm and includes a fully catered buffet style lunch, 2 guided snorkels - beach and drift snorkel. The vessel is available for private charter. Following the success of Choo Choos @St Crispins, Choo Choos @Marina opened this month. Choo Choos is a celebration of fresh, tropical flavours in a menu of seasonal dishes and drinks served with generosity, warmth and passion. Aqua Quest Launch Special Extended

Divers Den Port Douglas have been in town for over a month and to thank everyone for their continued support they have extended the launch special until 30th September 2017. Visitors to the region will receive one free introductory or certified dive when booking a snorkel trip aboard AquaQuest.

TNQ Tourism Industry Excellence Awards – Deadline 11th September

The 2017 awards are fast approaching and the nomination process is open. Ben Pratt – General Manager - Mossman Gorge received the Young Achiever Award in last year’s TNQ Tourism Excellence Awards.The awards celebrate excellence within the TNQ Tourism industry and there are two awards up for nomination:

  • The Innovation Excellence award recognises and rewards companies or individuals working innovatively across the TNQ Tourism Industry. Click Here to Nominate

Daintree Ferry 'Early Bird' Trial

The Daintree Ferry has experienced record numbers of vehicles travelling on the ferry in the past 18 months. Council has been working with local tourism operators north of the Daintree River to develop strategies to minimise delays while encouraging visitors to experience the beauty of the world’s oldest rainforest and the early bird discount is the latest initiative. From 15 September to 3 October inclusive, Douglas Shire Council will trial an ‘early-bird’ discount for ferry travellers for any vehicle in the car/ute category travelling before 9am each day, reducing the return fare by over 25 per cent to just $20 and offering one-way fares for just $10, a discount of over 33 per cent for self-drive tourists.

Upcoming Pavement Rehabilitation Work - The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) this week will commence pavement rehabilitation works on Davidson Street between Port Street and Mowbray Street. It was a beautiful day for passengers to enjoy our region and we welcomed lots of smiling faces from the tenders.September is a busy cruise ship month, with 3 scheduled arrivals to anchor in Port Douglas, the next arrivals are scheduled for:
